Brett Bowman was born and raised in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. A graduate of the University of Charleston with a bachelor of science in organizational leadership, Brett now lives in Southern California with his chocolate Labrador, Rafter. In 2010, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In 2014, he joined the marine reconnaissance community, where he continues to serve today.
Throughout his career, Brett has been drawn to the demanding environments that test character, resilience, and teamwork. Those same qualities sparked his passion for photography. What began as a creative therapy outlet evolved into a way to document training and daily life, which further evolved into a desire to preserve the stories, traditions, and experiences of the marine reconnaissance community. Rather than focusing on any one individual, Brett’s goal is to capture the professionalism, sacrifice, humor, hardship, and brotherhood that define the community itself.
