Meet R. Nicholas Palarino

R. Nicholas Palarino, PhD, devoted more than five decades to military service, national security, diplomacy, public service, and higher education. Drafted into the US Army in 1966, he served as a helicopter pilot with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War before going on to command artillery units, negotiate arms control agreements with Soviet officials, support some of America’s most sensitive national security programs, serve on Capitol Hill, advise democratic leaders overseas, and teach at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Married to his wife, Pat, for nearly six decades, Nick’s greatest accomplishments extend beyond his professional career. In Would I Do It All Over Again?, he shares not only the extraordinary experiences that shaped his life but also the lessons he learned about service, leadership, sacrifice, family, resilience, and purpose. Through stories that span war, diplomacy, government, education, and family life, he invites readers to reflect on the choices that define a meaningful life—and to ask themselves the same question that inspired his memoir: Would I do it all over again?
